New alcohol-related hospital admission stats released

ISD Scotland have released their latest round of statistics for alcohol-related hospital admissions.

The lastest figures for 2014/15 show a continuation of the downward trend in hosptial admissions since 2007/08, with 35,069 alcohol-related acute hospital admissions. Despite this downward trend, the rate of admissions for more chronic conditions, such as alcohol-related liver disease and alcohol psychosis, have remained stable or increased.

Individuals in the most deprived communities are eight times more likely than individuals in the least deprived communities to have an alcohol-related hosptial admission.
